Wedding photographer Matt Adcock, was awarded 2nd place for photo 79146 in the Details (Found) category for the WPJA's 2008 Q4.
- Sometimes you have to get a little lucky, but Bresson said, “We should pay attention to those who are consistently lucky.” I’m guessing this photographer has been lucky often because they know how to capitalize on it. Clean, simple little moment, found and captured well.
- The butterfly is such a beautiful surprise and photographed perfectly. It’s lovely with the clasped hands of the bride and groom included. Just the dress and the butterfly wouldn’t have been anywhere nearly as effective. You know it’s a wedding and you know it was a special little moment when the butterfly landed on her. The luck with the butterfly and the skill of the photographer combined to make a very nice detail shot!
The WPJA contest judges presented Matt Adcock, a Quintana Roo, Mexico wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
