The WPJA contest judges presented Brooke Mayo, a North Carolina, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- You wait at great lengths for these types of moments. Really good lighting (the most successful type lighting, which emphasizes and supports the image and not the style of lighting). The photographer has shown how this child views a wedding. The child is standing around in her underwear and is making the bride and groom dolls hug. It is very innocent and sweet. I like the richness of the pattern against such a simple child. There's something sweet and innocent about this toddler gently bringing the wedding dolls into a hug position. I'd love to know what she's thinking.
