2nd place in The Cake
The WPJA contest judges presented Ron Storer, a Washington, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Hilarious contrast of a disgruntled “cake-in-your-face†bride with a guilty, abashed groom in the background. A real "moment". This is such a fun moment. The bride is pouting while the groom is smirking in the background. Even though they are old enough to get married and are asking to be thought of as an adult married couple, they are still young enough to have fun. A new twist on the cake-sharing moment, where typically the shot is of the groom feeding the bride. Great expressions on both the bride and the groom in the background.
