1st place in Bride and/or Groom
The WPJA contest judges presented Debra Simpson, a Dorset, United Kingdom wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Classic image. Scene plays out at many weddings – concerned father checking the proverbial watch with fashionably late bride so caught up in the moment that for her, time is irrelevant. This photo captures two great wedding moments in an instant: the classic image of the father of the bride worrying about things not going according to schedule, and the happy bride leaning on dad, looking like she hasn't a care in the world.
