Wedding photographer Mike Day, was awarded 13th place for photo 102386 in the Mirrors (creative use of) category for the WPJA's 2006 Winter.
- Talk about people being is different worlds. It looks like there are 4 separate scenes here. The kid's reflection makes you wonder what she thinks of all of it. The photo is complicated and wonderfully layered. If you had 10 photographers in that same spot, they could have made 10 different photographs, yet I suspect this one would be the strongest. The photographer made all of these disparate elements work.
The WPJA contest judges presented Mike Day, a Ontario, Canada wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
