Bio: David R. Jones, Certified Professional Photographer and owner of D. Jones Photography possesses a rich and genuine love for people that allows his clients to respond with natural ease. Known for a forte in wedding photography and social events, his passion has gained recognition throughout the Southwest. The Professional Photographers of America has recognized David with an exhibition in the International Loan Collection as well as the prestigious Fuji Masterpiece Award. In 2005 he was awarded Best Wedding Album from the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston. His work is featured in the book Innovative Techniques for Wedding Photography, an Amherst Media publication, as well as the regional edition of the Knot, Weddings in Houston and Modern Luxury's Houston Brides.
During his fifteen-year career, David's warm personality and professional skills have generated a high demand for weddings and special events. Adapting to almost any situation or location has gained David wedding commissions throughout Texas, as well as Louisiana, Florida, New York, Mexico, Europe and most recently Brazil.
Bio: For over 20 years, I have been seeking the beautiful moments of life to freeze with my camera. My work began with a focus on landscape and travel photography, but I realized over time that I wanted to turn my focus to people - and I have been in love with wedding photography ever since. My work has won awards and been exhibited in galleries over the years.
Bio: British photographer Philip Thomas resides with his wife and newborn Lily in San Antonio, Texas. Starting out in 1992 as a newspaper photographer, his influences stem from the wonderful
and creative news photojournalists he worked with on the south coast of England. Other influences are the great masters Robert Capa, Robert Doisneau to the present day George Trifunovic and Jeff
Ascough. For eleven years, Philip traveled the world twice over working on one of the most luxurious liners in the world, the QE2, from 1994 to 2005, where he was in charge of 5-10 photographers at
a time. So you could say he has the travel bug! Philip has a varied clientele. Most of those appreciate the arts and have professional careers. He limits his weddings to around 30 a year from his
office in San Antonio. He loves what he does; every wedding is honest, romantic and unique and to capture that in it's truest form he feels is totally awesome.
Bio: David has been working as a professional photographer since 1986 after obtaining a degree in photography from the Art Institute. He has shot assignments for companies over the years like Continental Airlines and Bechtol Engineering. He now primarily shoots weddings and has become well known for his black and white work. "The one constant I have found about our clients is that the photography is very important to them. We could be the least expensive vendor our client has or the most expensive but ALL of our clients are very particular about this part of their wedding."
Bio: Brooke Shepard attended the University of Texas and majored in Advertising, which was the beginning of her creative journey into photography. The photographs in ads is what appealed to her the most. After graduating, Brooke went to work at a graphic design firm and also worked part time helping at several photography studios. She soon realized that photography was her passion.
With that in mind, Brooke had to find a way to do it full time, so she decided to start her business over four years ago and has loved taking pictures of people and their lives. These past years, she has learned that life is precious and every photo that she takes is capturing a moment that will be cherished forever. Brooke has been married to a wonderful man, Josh, for over three years. They have a 2-year-old daughter named Stella (who is so much fun) and they love traveling together.
Bio: Alex has been photographing weddings for over twenty years in central Texas. Alex has a bachelor of art in photojournalism and a master of fine art in photography from the University of Texas. His photographs have received numerous awards and honors and his artwork is owned by three permanent museum collections in France, Mexico and Texas.
I'm humbled and I'm still pinching myself to be part of the WPJA. I have a long way to get where I want to be, and even then I will always be striving to get to the next level. So thank you for the opportunity.
You write how other photographers in the WPJA refer others when they're booked-and that's exactly what happened to me when a kindly WPJA photographer referred me to a Houston couple who came to San Antonio to have their wedding with family & friends. A good example of the WPJA team, as you put it.
I've been a photographer for 15 years but just started capturing weddings just a year ago when my passion for documenting weddings rather than the traditional style-which was such a turn off-changed. I wanted to physically vomit just thinking about it.
