JUDGES COMMENTS: I have always found it interesting that a common scene, repeated hundreds of thousands of times each year, is so often missed by talented photojournalists, including myself. Here it is captured in such beauty that it becomes symbolic of all scenes of its type. A gentle kiss from a man to a woman on their wedding day rises above all the rest simply because all of the great elements of good photography and photojournalism came together in one exquisite moment. This photo is soft and intimate. The photographer has managed to get in close to the couple and share this exchange with the viewer. The tight crop of this photo perfectly communicates the happiness of the bride in the arms of her groom. You can feel the intimacy and closeness between them. It's a great angle. |
