JUDGES COMMENTS: There were many photographs of people crying at weddings. Many were touching in the tenderness they depicted. But only a few were able to capture those touching moments in a way that was both emotionally powerful and photographically interesting. This photograph did that well. The composition is strong. The mother and father frame the woman between them. The focus is on the eyes of the woman in the center of the frame. The emotion on her face and the faces of the father and mother give the photograph its power and poignancy.
