Getting Married in Hong Kong
Known for being a region where east meets west, Hong Kong is certainly a fast-paced city with breathtaking sites and a variety of cultural experiences that will add uniqueness, excitement and beauty to a wedding celebration. Hong Kong is primarily comprised of Hong Kong Island, Lantau Island, the Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories. In total, there are 262 islands and peninsulas in the South China Sea to enjoy that are a part of Hong Kong. Lantau is the largest island while Hong Kong Island, home to the capital city of Victoria, is the second largest, and the most populated.
Couples who celebrate their wedding day in Hong Kong will be able to embrace the modern culture and historical Chinese traditions together. Often times red, a symbolic color of prosperity is used for the brides wedding banquet dress and for the envelopes that guests place gifts of money into, called laisee. The colors of Hong Kong weddings are dynamic and will be creatively captured by your own wedding photographer. Hong Kong is known for being the busiest deepwater port in the world, so capturing incredible views is a priceless opportunity, especially from the top of Victoria Peak—which will give you the proper placement to observe the whole city and even have special wedding photos taken. Beaches are in plenty in Hong Kong, especially in the outlying islands that are uninhabited; where you can explore the mountains or have your wedding photojournalist capture you surrounded with the seascape of breathtaking Hong Kong.
