Shelley Woodworth
I'm Shelley Woodworth, one half of the photography team ShelleyAndKeith, with my husband and WPJA member Keith Foley. We've been shooting weddings together since 2004, working in New Jersey, New York City, Connecticut and Philadelphia. Although I have no problem making group photos, I spend most of my time as an observer, letting things happen instead of making them happen, so that the images reflect the truth and beauty of the wedding story. I have been published in Brides magazine, and have been a top pick for The Knot's Best of Weddings.

Even lighting is the key to this party moment, with bounce technique preserving some modeling detail on these beautiful girls. Gestures say so much in a photo, and this shot is no exception.

1st Place: First Dance - 2007 Q3Photographer's Comment
In spending the day with this bride and groom, I noticed right away that the groom used a lot of gestures to accentuate his conversation. So, when it came time for the first dance, this moment presented itself to my lens. I am always looking for something unique to the couple I photograph, and this was certainly indicative of his personality, and their relationship. The dark background lets the moment stand out, and I used just enough fill flash to light the couple without lighting the scene behind them.

A comedic moment. Preserving the detail in the cake frosting while getting good skin tones requires a careful blend of flash and ambient light.
