When most photographers hear the word “wedding” they think of a ceremony, a bridal party and a staged reception with drunken speeches and a bouquet toss. I’ve learned that there is much more to weddings than that. They are the unscripted and intimate moments that happen when many photographers are waiting to shoot the next item in the program. Whether I’m shooting brides getting ready in the morning or elephants walking through the streets of Bangkok, I bring the same passion to create images where documentary meets art.

I graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Psychology and planned to continue with it but after 4 years of exploring the psyche and human behaviour I decided to get out and explore the world. I travelled and worked my way through 2 years in India and Southeast Asia. Soon after landing a job with a logistics company in Budapest in 2006, I was dispatched to manage their office in Kabul, Afghanistan. Before I left I bought my first camera and soon found myself consumed with capturing the images I saw around me. After 6 months in Kabul I decided to pursue a career in photography. Since then I have been working as a freelance photojournalist splitting my time between Toronto and Bangkok.
My editorial work has been featured in publications such as National Geographic, New York Times, Newsweek and Time Magazine. My work has been awarded by Pictures of the Year International, Prix de la Photographie Paris (Px3), the International Photography Awards, American Photo and the Applied Arts Photo Annual. I was also selected by Photo District News as one of the PDN 30 photographers in 2010.
