Giancarlo Malandra

I was born in Chieti (Italy) in 1968, now I live in Giulianova (Italy).
I’ve won numerous national and international awards, including the Grand Prize at the "Urban Photographer of the Year" 2009 (UK), the 1st portfolio prize at the National Photo Contest "Trofeo Pontevecchio" Bologna 2009 and 2nd place in portfolio and single photo in the "Grand Prix of Photography" 2009 and 2010. I‘ve participated in the FIAF monograph "L’Abruzzo dei fotografi" (2008) and with a reportage of over 50 images to the realization of the book "3:32 I segni del terremoto" (2010) about the earthquake that hit the city of L'Aquila.
In 2011 the reportage "The sea, our life", made on board a fishing vessel, was selected for the No. 40 of Witness Journal, the leading online magazine of photojournalism in Italy.
In 2011 the reportage on the feast of St. Dominic in Cocullo (AQ) has been published by the Italian Touring Club.
In 2011 I was selected by Leica as one of the 24 emerging talents of Italian photography in the "Leica Talent 24x36" competition, for which I've made the reportage "The denied city " about the situation of the city of L'Aquila 3 years after the earthquake of April 6, 2009 . This reportage was also selected for the No. 49 of Witness Journal.
I have made several solo and group exhibitions.
