James Hudson

I have been a photographer for over 20 years, starting out shooting for skateboarding magazines and then going on to cover a wide variety of personal, commercial and journalistic subjects. During 2011 I was artist in residence at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and my work has been included in several exhibitions and festivals. Documenting events and the amazing things that people get up to in life has always excited me about photography and, as a result, I have often been asked to photograph weddings. Read More...

My aim is to produce an entertaining, natural and creative record of the wedding day. I will be there early in the morning when the bride is getting ready and I am usually one of the last to leave the party at night. On the big day I will require a place at the wedding breakfast, a small amount of time with the bride and groom for portraits and, if required, time and space to make a couple of group shots. The rest of the time I will be blending in with the party and taking pictures discreetly – giving you more time with your family and friends. I shoot the vast majority of pictures on 35mm film in b&w. A weeks or so after the wedding you will receive 6x4" prints of all the best shots and 24x16" contact sheets of all the shots. These tangible, beautiful objects are what I hope you will treasure long after the pics posted immediately on social media are forgotten. I will of course scan and supply on DVD the best few of the images taken on film plus any I do take digitally on the day.
