Photographing weddings is awesome. It’s such an honor to be present at someone’s wedding. My first experience with professional photography was working as a lighting assistant for wedding photography studios. I worked with some terrific photographers at many (many!) weddings, way back in the 1980s. That was when I was the kid who was the photo editor for the school paper. I then did the same for the college paper while working on an art degree, and went on to get another art degree after that. I've worked as an assistant for portrait, editorial, and commercial photographers, and I've been working freelance in Chicago for over 10 years. Weddings demand that I use a wide variety of the skills I've learned over the years; it's always a bit different, and always a new challenge. I’m proud to have been accepted into the Artistic Guild of the WPJA .
