A native to the High Desert of California André got his first taste of documentary photography exploring abandoned houses and photographing the left behind remnants of people’s lives. After working as an Art Director for 7 years at two different trade magazines, he relocated to San Francisco to pursue his MFA in Photography. While earning his MFA at San Francisco’s Academy of Art, Andre focused on developing and honing a photojournalistic eye. During his final year of school he was mentored in a one-on-one environment with many photographic greats including Ed Kashi and Jim Nachtwey, who helped to put the polish on his skills.
André continues to explore and photograph the hidden life of Californians and other topics, from abandoned buildings throughout the Bay Area and homeless metal thieves to underground dining events in San Francisco.
