Melanie Thortis is a freelance photojournalist based out of Brandon, Miss. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Photojournalism from the University of Southern Mississippi and has been working in the field of journalism since 1998. Her work has been featured in The Washington Post, USA Today, The Clarion-Ledger, The Vicksburg Post, The Natchez Democrat and the documentary book Mississippi 24/7. She is an award winning photojournalist who has taken a step back from the daily grind of newspapers to focus on wedding photojournalism. Capturing 'slice of life' moments is what she does best.
