It all started back in high school, when I was away on a fishing trip with my father. A good friend and journalist came out in the boat with us and he photographed a portrait of me. I couldn’t believe the quality of the photo – sure it was just a fish, and me but it was amazing! It was also a really special moment with my dad and I’ll have a photograph to help remember it forever.

From there, I was inspired to buy a camera. That turned into an SLR a few months later and I started to teach myself photography. On the weekends I started assisting some local wedding photographers and taking pictures of anything I could find, flowers in the garden, jazz bands, family members, clothes pegs on the line etc. Looking back now the photos are terrible, but it was just the beginning.
Once I finished school, I went off to follow my childhood dream of becoming an Engineer. While still, almost every day, taking pictures. Two years into studying Engineering and I made one of the hardest and most rewarding decisions of my life – I quit. It was such a difficult and painful thing to give up something I’d wanted for so long, but I had to. I couldn’t think of anything in life but photography. I became completely obsessed and determined to give it everything I had.
I started working 3-4 days a week for another photography business photographing, editing and doing office work for weddings – while studying full time. A couple of years fly past and I didn’t even notice the time. My life was completely immersed in photography and I couldn’t (and still can’t) get enough of it. When I wasn’t studying, shooting, editing or reading online or in magazines I was usually asleep… Dreaming about photography!
In not too much time at all I completed the photography course and was fast into running my own business. It became very obvious from lecturers, mentors and listening to my heart that the direction my photography would take had to involve people. I just absolutely loved experiencing life with others and sharing it with the world. I strive to photograph the world in a truthful, honest & sensitive way capturing the entire range of human emotions and putting it together into a story. Capturing these moments and sharing them is what it’s all about for me. This is why weddings fit me absolutely perfectly. There is so much emotion, human connection and love to be photographed and such a beautiful story to be told.
My work has been featured in magazines, galleries, online weddings blogs, used in advertising and even collected and displayed in homes and businesses around the country. I've photographed over 130 weddings, in nearly every State & Territory in Australia, overseas including Italy, Fiji, Canada & USA. Every year is incredibly exciting and I can't wait to see whats around the next corner. That’s my story and I’d love to hear yours.
