Kathy & Matt
Married May 29th, 2010
"We’d like to start by saying thank you so much for the breath taking pictures of our wedding day. We had decided early that photography would be the biggest part of our budget for the wedding. As you know,we tend to take tons of photos ourselves so this was a huge deal for us. Kathy had scoured the internet looking for a photographer and spent 2 months disappointed in what she found. When we found the WPJA website we were a bit dejected by what we saw - prices were too high and the options weren’t what we wanted. After looking at all of the photographers in the Lexington area and broadening the search further and further, your name popped up. Your prices are extremely reasonable and you allowed us to pick and choose what we wanted “a la carte” instead of forcing us to...more " sign up for a package that included things we didn’t want. The moment we saw your pictures we knew we had found our photographer. As far as we’re concerned, stumbling upon your website was pretty much kismet. This was further confirmed when we first met for the contract meeting. You seemed genuinely excited to not only be working with us but to be shooting at the Natural Bridge. We both knew you had both the personality and photography skills that we were looking for to capture our big day. We were very pleased to hear that you include a free engagement session with all wedding bookings. This is fantastic as most photographers make you pay extra for this. As most couples are, we were nervous and worried about how the engagement session would turn out because it was our first time doing a professional photo shoot. Within minutes of starting we were at ease due to your calm demeanor and laid back attitude. Although you struck us as easy going you managed to still remain completely professional each time we worked with you. Your approach sitting back and observing while you snapped shots was perfect. We loved that you captured the two of us together, goofing around like we normally do. The fact that you do not impose a time limit really helped us be at ease in that we didn’t have to rush photos or stay in the same areas and clothes. You allowed us to change three times and we wandered about Fredericksburg looking for locations that would be interesting. You accommodated us immensely during this shoot as well. If either of us had a suggestion for a shot or a request, you gladly did it. You allowed us to take part in the selection of location and the setup of shots and it was a really terrific experience. It was an adventure and we were thrilled with the resulting photos. We were both also surprised to see the photos up so quickly on your blog and facebook and this made it super easy to share with friends and family. On the big day you showed up early and with another photographer in tow! Terra Chandler was a wonderful addition to the day. We were both shocked as we knew she was not part of the package and thought this was incredibly kind of you to bring another photographer with you to the wedding. The fact that you spent the ENTIRE day with us was absolutely wonderful. You are the only photographer in all of our searching that refused to set a time limit on your shoots, especially a wedding day. We are so very grateful for this because it allowed you to get shots from the earliest part of the morning through to the last dance of the night, not just a 5 hour block of time. We certainly understand why you are part of the WPJA because you did exactly what a [wedding] photojournalist does and told the story of our day through spectacular in-action photographs. Aside from the traditional family shots we requested, you didn’t stop and make people pose or ask them to huddle in for a shot and we appreciated that. You allowed the day to go on as it would have and did not interfere with the wedding at all, yet you managed to capture the most amazing shots that make it appear like you were right next to us the entire time. Neither one of us noticed either of you during the wedding or the reception except for at big moments (cake cutting, garter toss, etc) and we do not say that as an insult but as a huge compliment. I will say that EVERYONE noticed you when you swooped in and saved the day after our homemade wedding slideshow stopped working. You and Terra managed to quickly to pull together a slideshow of over 100 photos you had taken only hours earlier and we were able to continue to utilize the projector. Thank you for that. We also loved that you found a spot (Foamhenge) near the Natural Bridge and whisked us away before the reception to grab a few photos there. They came out perfectly. We were very impressed that you had thought about the event beforehand and had several other ideas for places to take pictures. After the wedding, when we saw the photographs we were pleased to see that you were there for every moment, and you captured it all so well. You found beauty in every minute of our day. Friends and family at the event raved about both you and Terra. Compliments they gave about the two of you included that you both were incredibly nice, diligent, and easy to work with. Every single person who we have talked to about the wedding has mentioned the photos and they are all in awe of your talent. My mother grabbed a huge stack of your cards and has been distributing them like they are gum. You certainly were worth every penny spent. You went above and beyond what we wanted and contributed immensely to the success of our wedding. We would not change a thing about our experience with you and we are completely satisfied. We are happy and excited for anyone who is lucky enough to hire you for any photos they may need because we know they will love the outcome. We are two of your biggest fans and will jump at the chance to be a reference should anyone need it. We know we’ve said it a million times but we will never be able to say it enough: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Best Regards." show less
