"I have to admit that I knew your work was amazing even before we met, from the photos I saw on your website. And to say you are kind and professional to work with is very much an understatement. But, honestly, I have almost no recollection of you on the day of my wedding. Neither do my...more " friends and family. You were like a phantom...and I secretly wondered, "How could she possibly have been so inconspicuous and still have managed to capture our special moments??" And then we got the photos. First of all, each image is stunning!! But there's also a certain polish to the spontaneity of the photos that I can only imagine is the mark of true talent. For the record, I'm entirely convinced you could shoot a roll of toilet paper with a level of sophistication and compassion that would bring tears to many an eye. But here's what I really love... Every single time I open our wedding book, I get to see how tenderly my husband's hand rests on the small of my back when we dance...or the way the sunlight streamed through the windows of the restaurant that day making the lilies on the tables glow gently...or the mix of dignity and anxiety on my father's face about 4 seconds before he says something that he feels is of tremendous importance. These are the kinds of captured memories that do something even more precious than inspire awe with their simple beauty. They sustain. When things get complicated and difficult. They endure. Thanks to you, to look through our wedding photos is to take a brief, beautifully raw and breathtakingly real journey back to our most joyful day!! I'm struggling to discipline myself to focus on my work and kind of concerned I'm becoming an ego-addled...more " glutton gorging on all this delicious eye candy... Truly, it's an awesome thing to have this special day reflected back to me in a way that seems true to my experience of it. [I must admit here that prior experience has lead me to kind of steel myself up for a bit of disappointment with photos because it's more often than not that, though an actual representation is captured, the spirit of the moment is missing. And so I tend careful and cautious in my hopes in this regard, feeling that it's risky and not at all something to count on... ] Point is, all that cautious bother turned out to be a completely unnecessary emotional expenditure. Because you get it, and are amazingly talented at what you do, *and* are able to translate it through you into your work. In short, the pictures are amazing and feel so right!
