Karri North

Karri North grew up in the rural routes of the Niagara Region, and now resides with her two children in downtown Toronto. As most of her family still dwells in Niagara, she has the pleasure of being able to work in the country as well as in the city---something that she feels keeps her ideas diverse. Read More...

Her interest in photography began as a preteen and has grown into the central passion of her adult life. Karri has taken her camera throughout Canada and the United States, to Asia, India and Europe; and in doing so, has compiled a significant body of travel photography and personal work. She began shooting wedding photographs in 1998, and found that her subjects were highly receptive to her photojournalistic, or ‘candid’ style.

While wedding photography remains her core line of work, Karri will always be exploring alternate avenues in the photographic field, be they personal or collabrative, artistic or commercial. She is ever interested in rising to new challenges to meet her clients standards, and her own personal vision.

  Photographer's Comment

  The bride had just been in tears after receiving blessings from her family at the end of a very musical bedeken ceremony. Her groom had placed her veil and now, taking a moment to gather herself, she adjusts it and readies herself for the ceremony to follow. I love how she's caught somewhere in a sad joy, between fear and anticipation. A harsh light softened by many windows.
