My interest in photography started in college - I took my first photo course and I was hooked. I would spend hours and hours in the darkroom and I would immerse myself in the art. After college, I continued photography as a hobby, and friends who were getting married asked me if I would take some extra photos at their wedding because they knew I was a hobbyist. Read More... These same friends started coming back to me and were happier with my photos than with their hired photographer. Eclectic Images was begun.
In addition to photography, I have a background in graphic design which I employ with my album and postcard designs. I have been shooting weddings for almost 9 years and I LOVE my job. I have been published nationally in The Knot Magazine, regionally for many years running in The Knot Real Weddings Texas, and I have been awarded editors choice for the Best of the Knot for two years running.
I live in Austin with my husband Mike and my two Boston Terriers, Linus and Moo. In my spare time, I love to travel and do travel photography, decorate my home and shop for mid century modern furnishings and accessories, and read.
Heather Banks is a Destination Wedding Photographer
My first forays into photography began with the documenting of my travels throughout Europe. Destination wedding photography is a natural inclination for me, combining my appreciation for architecture, culture, and the emotion and joy that encompass weddings. A pre or post wedding couple's session at the destination is included with destination coverage.
Wedding services are all-inclusive. All travel expenses will be quoted as a flat fee and cover all expenses for both Heather and assistant. Available for travel worldwide. Passport current.

"I knew all along when planning my wedding that I wanted to make the most investment in the photographer because photos are really the only thing from the wedding that lasts (besides the relationship, of course). Also, I come from a journalist background, so my expectations were high and I did not want a photographer that was going to make me pose the whole time. I believe that it's the photographer's job to capture the moments as they happen, not stage the moments. I could not have been happier with the decision. Heather and her assistant captured the day in a way that not any photographer can do. Our wedding was in a scenic outdoor...more " lakeside setting. Only one problem: the skies opened up and it POURED on the ceremony. The ceremony was full of moments of sheer horror and laughter on my face, soaked guests covering up in pool towels, nearby bikini-clad pool guests holding up umbrellas for the bridal party, and everyone making the most of the (now) funny situation.
