The two best compliments I've received from my couples are: "You became part of our family for the day," and "We barely noticed you...but you were everywhere!" This really covers the most important parts of my job - to capture all the important, fleeting moments of your day without intruding on them, and to make you comfortable enough with me and my camera to be able to do that.
I spent eight years as a photojournalist in SC, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. I've covered everything from hurricanes (ask me about the time I was trapped in my car) to stories on uninsured women fighting cancer. I started my photography career to change the world; I'm still doing that - one quiet, intimate moment at a time.
I document a maximum of 15 weddings per year, to be able to give each of my couples the personal attention they deserve. Their stories are beautiful, unique, and important, and deserve to be treated that way. Read More

I have been a photographer my entire life, or at least since I could hold a camera. So many images of me as a child are of me holding... first camera (a Seagull 4B). The art form is among my greatest passions, and I am blessed to be able to say that my livelihood is among my life's real joys.
I have also always loved weddings, and have been shooting them professionally for over 7 years. They combine so many things I find fascinating: deep emotion, beautiful colors, bodies flying about, families coming together. I have studied photography formally in various settings, including rigorously while as a student at Georgetown University and an untold number of retreats and workshops.
My other passion is human psychology. My training as a psychologist is evident in much of my work. Much of portrait photography is about sincerity, which helps the subject feel comfortable and natural in your presence. And further, my training has helped me identify, understand, and honor subtleties of emotion, and has allowed me to capture the kinds of images that people seem to truly cherish.Read More

I’m a Vail, Colorado based photographer with a true passion and love for the art of photography; using it to tell the real story. I...ve my fiancé more than life itself. Overall, I have a romantically sentimental vision toward life and find the little things important.

There, I had the privilege of covering events like the XGames; as well as news stories like the Hurricane Katrina aftermath. My images have been published in newspapers across the country, like the New York Times and USA Today.

My name is Brandon and I own and am the principal photographer for FotoVitae. I started FotoVitae in 2006 and specialize in wedding...d engagement photography. Personally, I shoot between 25-35 weddings per year. While I'm based outside of Portland, OR, I shoot throughout the Pacific NW and Alaska. Of course, I'm also open to travel for destination weddings around the country and world.
My interest in photography started in high school and I eventually ended up studying photography in Johannesburg, South Africa; focusing on wildlife photography at the time. I've since realized that interacting with people is what makes the job great and I can truly say that I love what I do. Aside from studying photography, I also recieved my bacholors degree in business administration from the University of Oregon. I focused on entrepreneurship which has been an incredible asset as a small business owner.
While I was in Eugene for those 4 years, I met my future wife and we eventually married in August of 2006. Sunshine & I were married at a small cabin we built in Yaak, Montana and that's where we spend most of our free time and where I still take time to capture wildlife.
Last year Sunshine and I started our family and we now have beautiful twin boys, Abdur & Nursun. Fatherhood is a lot of work but an incredible adventure. I should also mention our furry children Kootenai (our cat) & Zulu (our Doberman).

I grew up carrying around a camera wearing rainbow suspenders and cowgirl boots. I have come a long way since but I find it curiously...sightful that I somehow knew then what I should be doing with my life. I respect the art of photography for this significance but I also find it freeing and natural.
I was one of those high school yearbook photographers that lurked under the stairs to find a unique image. I grew wings in college and began my post-collegiate career doing work in the field of psychology. At the time photography was my hobby and studying the way people made decisions was my vocation. After years of research and feeling starved for more creativity, I returned to school for a dedicated photographic education. In 2005 I attended the Brooks Institute of Photography and haven't looked back since.
I operate my business out of my home in Portland, Oregon, but I have spent years in California and love documenting stories there as well. I will travel to any state in the US and actually travel more often than I stay local these days. When I am not photographing weddings I love documenting state fairs and other iconic American celebrations. I am also an avid swimmer, cyclist, runner, triathlete, all-around outdoors-person and most recently a break-dancer. Read More

It is such an easy referral tool for us, and I love the fact that I feel I can trust any of the members to provide quality [wedding] photojournalism, thanks to your membership screening process. We have been getting more and more leads from the WPJA. The new site looks great. :)

1. I just booked someone this morning who found me on the WPJA website!
Thanks
2. I just got back from weddings in India and Thailand, both the same couple. They found me on the WPJA site, so I know it works.
Locally, magazines are currently overrun with ads for wedding photographers, all of them claiming to be wedding photojournalists, making it harder for clients to make intial cuts on who to look at. The site is a great resource for brides, and just last night, my consultation told me that the found me on WPJA, and that it was the ONLY place they looked because of the quality of the work represented on it.

The northwestern most state in the contiguous states, Washington state sits along the border of the Canadian province of British Columbia on the north, borders Oregon to the south, Idaho to the west and the massive Pacific Ocean on its western border. As a part of the Pacific Northwest, Washington offers mountainous regions, stunning coastal regions and natural beauties of nature that can make for picturesque sites to shoot wedding photographs.
The Cascade Range cuts the state from north to south and includes massive volcanic and non-volcanic mountains, making way for fascinating, yet towering backdrops for your possible wedding photography shots. Washington also contains dense forests, grasslands and farmlands that can all present diverse wedding photography opportunities for your photographer to shoot.
The state has varied contrasts from deep forests in the Olympic Peninsula to the dry region east of the Cascades, to Mount Rainier which is the tallest mountain in the state and is covered with glacial ice, a dream backdrop for a wedding picture. The Puget Sound is the hub of active cities like Seattle, Olympia and Tacoma which contain numerous ports and a bustling city life, yet have numerous views of the ice capped mountains of Washington in the background; making for incredible wedding photography locations.
Some of the best Washington fine art wedding photographers are now just a click away through the Artistic Guild of the WPJA! The AG takes the world-renowned artistic approach of WPJA wedding photojournalists to yet another level through post-production processing (usually Photoshop).
