I have been a photographer my entire life, or at least since I could hold a camera. So many images of me as a child are of me holding... first camera (a Seagull 4B). The art form is among my greatest passions, and I am blessed to be able to say that my livelihood is among my life's real joys.

Born in Chicago and raised in a small logging town on the...ast of Washington, I was introduced to the world of photography through my mother at a weekly newspaper she and my father published. My very first home improvement project was to build a darkroom in our basement while I was in high school.
After high school, I attended college at the University of Washington, studying history and English, but mostly working at the student paper, The Daily, as a photographer, writer, designer and eventually editor-in-chief.
During and after college I interned at newspapers from Baltimore to Bremerton, Washington, learning the skills of a photojournalist. After college I began freelancing, mostly for the Associate Press, but also for U.S. Presswire and several PR firms in Seattle. My photos have appeared in The New York Times, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, The Economist and dozens of newspapers. Photos I took at these internships won in monthly clip contests sponsored by the National Press Photographers Association.

I grew up carrying around a camera wearing rainbow suspenders and cowgirl boots. I have come a long way since but I find it curiously...sightful that I somehow knew then what I should be doing with my life. I respect the art of photography for this significance but I also find it freeing and natural.
I was one of those high school yearbook photographers that lurked under the stairs to find a unique image. I grew wings in college and began my post-collegiate career doing work in the field of psychology. At the time photography was my hobby and studying the way people made decisions was my vocation.
