I started with film when I was a teenager and gave up photography for a long time while I was raising my daughter as a single mother... got back into it several years ago when digital first came out, although I still shoot in film. Sjöberg’s work has been exhibited on both coasts. In 2006 his work from Uganda was exhibited in “Into Africa” in Southern California. That next year he had further exhibits of his fine art in LA and Orange county, as well as a runway show featuring a line of clothes he designed. In 2008 Sjöberg’s work from Thailand was exhibited in New York City.

Whether he is shooting a wedding day or a breaking news assignment for a magazine, Ryan Anson looks for poignant moments and expressions...at capture our shared humanity. Growing up in Kenya, East Africa exposed him to different cultures at an early age and gave him an advantage when he later began covering stories as a professional photographer elsewhere in East Africa, Asia, and Latin America. I grew up carrying around a camera wearing rainbow suspenders and cowgirl boots. I have come a long way since but I find it curiously...sightful that I somehow knew then what I should be doing with my life. I respect the art of photography for this significance but I also find it freeing and natural.
I was one of those high school yearbook photographers that lurked under the stairs to find a unique image. I grew wings in college and began my post-collegiate career doing work in the field of psychology. At the time photography was my hobby and studying the way people made decisions was my vocation. After years of research and feeling starved for more creativity, I returned to school for a dedicated photographic education. In 2005 I attended the Brooks Institute of Photography and haven't looked back since.
I operate my business out of my home in Portland, Oregon, but I have spent years in California and love documenting stories there as well. I will travel to any state in the US and actually travel more often than I stay local these days. When I am not photographing weddings I love documenting state fairs and other iconic American celebrations.
