I grew up carrying around a camera wearing rainbow suspenders and cowgirl boots. I have come a long way since but I find it curiously...sightful that I somehow knew then what I should be doing with my life. I respect the art of photography for this significance but I also find it freeing and natural.
I was one of those high school yearbook photographers that lurked under the stairs to find a unique image. I grew wings in college and began my post-collegiate career doing work in the field of psychology. At the time photography was my hobby and studying the way people made decisions was my vocation. After years of research and feeling starved for more creativity, I returned to school for a dedicated photographic education. In 2005 I attended the Brooks Institute of Photography and haven't looked back since.
I operate my business out of my home in Portland, Oregon, but I have spent years in California and love documenting stories there as well. I will travel to any state in the US and actually travel more often than I stay local these days. When I am not photographing weddings I love documenting state fairs and other iconic American celebrations. I am also an avid swimmer, cyclist, runner, triathlete, all-around outdoors-person and most recently a break-dancer. Read More
My name is Brandon and I own and am the principal photographer for FotoVitae. I started FotoVitae in 2006 and specialize in wedding...d engagement photography. Personally, I shoot between 25-35 weddings per year. While I'm based outside of Portland, OR, I shoot throughout the Pacific NW and Alaska. Of course, I'm also open to travel for destination weddings around the country and world.
My interest in photography started in high school and I eventually ended up studying photography in Johannesburg, South Africa; focusing on wildlife photography at the time. I've since realized that interacting with people is what makes the job great and I can truly say that I love what I do. Aside from studying photography, I also recieved my bacholors degree in business administration from the University of Oregon. I focused on entrepreneurship which has been an incredible asset as a small business owner.
While I was in Eugene for those 4 years, I met my future wife and we eventually married in August of 2006. Sunshine & I were married at a small cabin we built in Yaak, Montana and that's where we spend most of our free time and where I still take time to capture wildlife.
Last year Sunshine and I started our family and we now have beautiful twin boys, Abdur & Nursun. Fatherhood is a lot of work but an incredible adventure. I should also mention our furry children Kootenai (our cat) & Zulu (our Doberman).

There are those rare moments when you know the truth of something because you see it clearly for the first time. Cartier-Bresson called... the "decisive moment" when a photograph suddenly reveals itself to you. That moment came to me at a wedding. As I put down my glass of champagne and picked up my brother's camera, I saw the simple truth: two people joining together with families and friends to celebrate a beginning, a next step, a new life. I'm Daniel Stark, a documentary wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. Starting in high school, I knew that photography was something special. And as a photojournalist for my college newspaper, it became a real passion as I learned how to frame and find the images that meant the most to me. But once I realized that photojournalism at its best and most meaningful is about real people at life's most important moments, it became a career. I see wedding photography as simply capturing a love story through the lens, documenting a new life, revealing those "decisive moments." Some of my work has been featured in National Geographic Magazine online as well as a number of regional publications. Weddings have even taken me abroad––the best of all worlds since I love travel and culture. I also break dance with my twin brother once in awhile. And I have the photos to prove it.Read More
I have been a full time professional photographer for 17 years. The first 12 as a newspaper photographer working at papers in Texas...alifornia and Oregon. Five years ago I quit my job to work for myself.
I run a small successful studio shooting weddings, families and for a handful of commercial and editorial clients. I have photographed over 100 weddings, but now limit myself to 12 a year to give each client my best.
I live with my wife and two wonderful daughters in Corvallis Oregon, but photograph weddings all over Oregon and the US.Read More
At an early age I realized that recording pictures was connecting me with moments of my life that I didn't want to forget. I suddenly...d the ability to translate a something fleeting into something real, and the revelation was powerful. Soon I was almost never without a camera.
Those early snapshots on the farm where I grew up led to photography school, which led to photojournalism, then on to art school; where ultimately I am charged with the responsibility of incorporating all three of those disciplines: artist, storyteller, and skilled tradesmen.
As a Wedding Photographer in Portland, Oregon I have been successful at blending my photojournalism background into wedding day documentation. For 10 years I have successfully and graciously recorded a wedding day from start to finish. Catchy and relevant, my style is always evolving as I strive to keep making extraordinary images well suited to Portland's DIY couples, the environmental conscious bride, and anyone who loves something artistic and unique.
I spend my free time with my wife in the mountains or at the coast, taking pictures everywhere we go.

I cut my teeth as a photographer by creating a number of photo-essay books, including two published by Simon & Schuster. The first... these, "Eagle Drum," follows a Native American boy dancing in powwows. The second, "Let's Rodeo," covers young rodeo riders in the Pacific Northwest. At the time, running from bulls in the rodeo arena or photographing traditional Indian dancers in their full regalia, I remember thinking, why would anyone ever want to be a wedding photographer? Fortunately, I learned of wedding photojournalism, and learned what a pleasure it is to learn that one could actually shoot a wedding as though it were a powwow or a rodeo -- that is, with an eye for action and color and capturing the telling moments.Read More

After finishing a bachelor’s degree in English Literature at Lewis and Clark College, I was determined to experience adventures and explore the world around me. My sense for adventure led me to wild land firefighting for the U.S. Forest Service on a hotshot crew, taking me all over the United States during the summers, while leaving me with time off in the winters to explore the world with my husband. My camera was my constant companion, as I preserved those images and moments for years to come.
In addition to a two-year professional photography degree, I have spent the last 13 years managing the unexpected and adapting to suddenly changing critical conditions. What could be better for handling a complicated wedding or an exuberant toddler! Our current adventure is underway with the addition of our son, Kieran.
