In a career spanning more than 20 years at three newspapers I've worked as a reporter, photographer, picture editor and director of photography. Most recently I spent 14 years as a staff photographer at The Charlotte Observer. Over the past five years I've worked hard to balance my newspaper work with a thriving wedding photojournalism business. My wife and I decided that the time had come to put all of our efforts into our business.
I also wanted to thank you for all of your efforts with the WPJA. I know this organization has played a significant role in helping us to grow our business and helped make the decision to go on our own easier. I've gotten numerous referrals through the WPJA. I'm always glad to hear that a bride found us through the WPJA because I know that they are looking for a wedding photojournalist and they have an excellent understanding of what that means. I recently attended a seminar and all of the photographers I spoke to agreed that the WPJA was an excellent investment for their business.
My business is really taking off because of the WPJA membership. This is the first year I really advertised and started the business in earnest. Traffic to my Web site was painfully slow until I was listed on the WPJA site. I just signed a bride and groom last night who were referred through WPJA - this was my first "Platinum Package" sale. I'm getting at least two to three serious inquiries a week just from WPJA traffic. My wife was worried about me spending the money to join, but she agrees now that this is by far the best thing we could have done for the business.
I find your emails/website more informative and refreshing
than any other organization I've been apart of. I also embrace the fact
that you hold members to high standards and aren't afraid to take a
stance on what is important.
Any questions that I've had have been answered promptly and in an
informative manner. I look forward to what the future holds and please
let me know if there is anything I can do to contribute to this
professional community.

With a diversity of landscapes ranging from mountainous regions to strikingly sandy beaches, North Carolina is a fabulous vacation location in addition to being a charming wedding destination. The state is divided into three main regions: the coastal plain, the Piedmont region and the Appalachian Mountains and foothills. Because of its varied range of elevation, from sea shore to the mountains, this state has one of the biggest varieties of climate of the southeastern states, making for ideal wedding location and wedding photography options. The Piedmont region, located in the central portion of North Carolina contains the state's most urbanized and densely-populated cities; Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Fayetteville, which are all fantastic wedding locations. With a rolling countryside, small rivers, streams and waterfalls, couples will find tremendous locations for beautiful wedding photographs. The western portion of North Carolina is lined with mountains that make up the Appalachian region, including the Great Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge Mountains, Balsams and the Black Mountains, which can stand tall as a majestic backdrop for your wedding photographs. The coastal plains, which make up the eastern 45% of the state, start off with sandy islands called the Outer Banks, which form the Albemarle and the Pamlico Sound. These areas are relatively flat and reveal the massive Atlantic Ocean and make for ideal locations for your wedding photojournalist to shoot brilliant photos.
Some of the best North Carolina fine art wedding photographers are now just a click away through the Artistic Guild of the WPJA! The AG takes the world-renowned artistic approach of WPJA wedding photojournalists to yet another level through post-production processing (usually Photoshop). AGWPJA photographers define North Carolina artistic wedding photography!
