Bio: Anne Ruthmann has been passionately photographing weddings since 2004, after being inspired by the fleeting moments of her own wedding in 2003. She has spent her life studying art and music from around the world and is passionate about supporting indie artists and musicians. Her desire to document stories comes from her love of all people and a deep appreciation for emotional moments. When not photographing weddings or studying her craft, you can find Anne attending live music events, gallery openings, and traveling the world with her husband.
Even though Anne has received awards from the WPJA and AGWPJA, she continues to push herself as an artist and photojournalist by attending classes and workshops whenever possible to help her see the world in new ways. Anne has also made it a priority to help protect the environment by adapting a paperless and energy efficient office to help reduce waste, and by using recycled and reusable products whenever possible. In order to make the above possible, Anne takes no more than 30 weddings per year, and prefers to photograph only one wedding per weekend in order to give each couple her undivided talent and attention.

Her personal work on public pools was recently published as a photo essay in Analemna magazine. She also works as a photography coordinator and photo editor for Rotary International, a humanitarian non-governmental organization.

Separated into two regions, the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula, Michigan offers couples with a variety of options for their wedding ceremony and wedding photography locations. Michigan is nestled by 4 of the 5 massive Great Lakes: Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, and is also bordered by Lake St. Clair, giving you ample options for your wedding destination and wedding photographs. Alaska is the only other state that has as much water as this beautiful state. Michigan shares bodies of water and neighbors both Ohio and Indiana. While Minnesota and Wisconsin lie to the west, Ontario, Canada neighbors Michigan on the east and north, making this state a distinctive area to chose your wedding location. The Upper Peninsula contains heavily forested areas and is has a more mountainous region to the west, including the Porcupine Mountains. The Lower Peninsula, which is shaped like a mitten, contains the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, a stunning destination that reveals nature’s beauty both in the warm and cold seasons. In central Michigan, you will find the state capital of Lansing, which is decorated with historical locations, while the city of Detroit is the largest city in Michigan, known for its automotive factories and popular music, giving it nicknames of Motown and Motor City. Your wedding photographer will be able to bring a creative touch to such spectacular surroundings of water, history and nature that will be sure to make your wedding celebration a most memorable event.
