I have had a passion for photography ever since I was young. Many years ago, I was asked to photograph a family member's wedding. When...ople saw the images, they were amazed. I was then asked to shoot for a friend, and the requests began to grow. So I left my formal education and job as a scientist to pursue this avenue.
Applying my professional background as a scientist, I believe has been a big advantage as a photographer. I look at my environment, people, and the world much more critically. I have learned in my science training to think several steps ahead and that has been a great asset as a wedding photographer, being able to anticipate.
Having spent time photographing in places as far away as the People's Republic of China, the passion has grown deeper and deeper. I formally started my photography business in 2006 and haven't looked back. Read More
I've always seen the world as though I were looking at it through a camera, focusing on details or color and shape in my mind, and...eezing moments that were special and dear to me. As a kid, the plastic viewfinder of my Kodak Instamatic seemed a natural way to frame my experiences and share them with others. Later, studying film and working in television revealed the power of using images to tell stories. And that's what I do today; tell stories of blossoming love, deep family connection, and momentous occasions though images framed in my minds eye.
If my contest winning photos appeal to you, and you might like to explore having me tell the story of your day, click the link to my web site below. There you can view more of my work and contact me.

I discovered my love for photography after moving to New York City from Boston in 2004. I am a former molecular biologist who has always...ved art, and I took the opportunity to soak in as much art as possible during my time in New York City. I took evening classes in photography and spent many weekends in museums and galleries, and decided that I wanted to become a photographer.
I moved back to MA to attend the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University, where I completed a professional photography program. As a student I worked for a wedding photographer and realized that I enjoyed the pace, excitement, emotion, and challenge of wedding photography. I am based out of Waltham, Massachusetts.
Photojournalism is a passion that began on the sidelines of the Poquoson (Va.) High football field shooting game action with my Pentax... at 1/50 of a second. Thankfully, the photos have improved since then, but the desire to tell stories and shoot great photos has not waned. I currently work as a freelance photographer in Boston, shooting everything from fires and portraits for the Boston Herald to weddings in art galleries in Philadelphia.
In 2007, I was awarded "Best of the Americas" at the Venice International Photo Contest. Every year since I have received an award for my photography and my work has been published in the Wall Street Journal, The Boston Herald, Red Sox Magazine and The Harvard Gazette.
In addition to my photography abilities, I also produce multimedia pieces and offer that as a service to clients who would like a a 5-10 minute video piece documenting their wedding day to post online and keep as a DVD.Read More

Formal training at Bowdoin College and Brown University. Brian's development began while working with National Geographic photographer...len Rowell in western Tibet, Nepal and India. The techniques developed were simple: be consistently respectful, unobtrusive and friendly. Brian quietly charmed his way in and out of Chinese jails, through rioting civil servants in Kathmandu and was welcomed to photograph more prohibited elements of real daily life then most ever get access to. Brian learned there that a quick smile, a respectful nod and an unobtrusive approach can create incredible photographic opportunities.
Brian continued to take on various editorial assignments throughout Asia, Central America, Canada and The United States. He has covered everything from sea turtle rescue efforts in Costa Rica to documenting the impacts of logging in British Columbia. His work appears in a variety of publications including books by Random House, as well as regional and national magazines.
But how and why weddings? At Brian's own Hawaiian beachside wedding, he was amazed by how obtrusive his otherwise incredibly talented photographer was and thought that there had to be a better way. It's his incredible creativity, quick sense of quiet humor and commitment to capturing the real essence of a wedding that make his photographs unique and cherished. With studios in San Francisco and Maine, Brian teaches photography workshops throughout the United States and supports destination weddings worldwide.Read More
