Alan Hutchison has been taking photographs since he was just 6 years old when he discovered his Grandfather's box camera lurking abandoned... a long forgotten corner. By 11 years of age he had his own darkroom, and has been taking photographs ever since.
The dawn of the digital era totally re-invigorated Alan's passion for Photography and the new freedom that digital allowed saw him looking for new opportunities to photograph. He quickly found himself becoming more and more of a photojournalist, documenting and capturing the sights around him rather than artificially trying to create them.
This new freedom migrated to his Wedding Photography and brings with it a fresh contemporary look to his images that continues into the final albums that he personally designs for his clients. Although based near Stirling in central Scotland, Alan also photographs Weddings throughout Scotland and occasionally abroad.
When Alan is not photographing Weddings you can usually find him dabbling with his many computers or out with his camera in the Scottish hills, waiting for the rain to stop.Read More
My interest in photography began when I would help my father develop and print his black and white photos in a darkroom set up in the...are room. The magic of watching an image slowly appear on a piece of paper has never left me, even if the smell of the chemicals and working in the dark no longer applies. I have been a photographer all my working life, from early days working as a freelance for The Daily Telegraph and Independent newspapers, to a self-assigned feature and travel photographer selling my work via international picture agencies. I now prefer to spend my time with friends and family in Scotland, and photographing the good things in life - weddings, landscapes, families.Read More

I have been documenting weddings for 6 years with my own unique and quirky photojournalistic style. I first started out in the world... photography 10 years ago when studying in college. Throughout my years of education I was always fascinated by photographing people and trying to capture raw emotions. I found that travel photography was a good outlet to showcase this.
I finally decided to delve into wedding photojournalism as a full-time profession and have never looked back since.
I now work in the editorial and fashion markets as well as weddings. Alot of my clients like my style of fast and edgy shots with non traditional angles. I have lived in London all of my life and I know it like the back of my hand. This knowledge and experience allows me capture fantastic shots even at the smallest and most intimate of venues. This means that my clients are mainly style conscious and energetic couples.Read More
I should let you know that I am delighted with the WPJA and have always been. After joining, and subsequently leaving, two of our UK organisations I feel that I have finally found a society in the WPJA that approaches weddings the same way I do. The competitions and articles the website publishes are inspiring and I am a regular visitor - if I have had a bad day I will look through some of the past competition photographs and find it an uplifting and inspiring experience.
I am delighted that the WPJA exists and I, and I am sure many others,
will continue to be proud supportive members of the society.
