Emanuele Carpenzano’s passion for photography has lasted twenty years: from the first photographic works applied to archaeological...search, to the foundation of the Sikanie Centre
for Visual Arts inaugurated last February, in Catania, in an 18th century palazzo close to Palazzo Biscari.
Narrative and poetic capacity has become the dominant theme of his work. A quality that is particularly appreciated in the ambit of Ceremonial Photography. A professionalism which has been well awarded in exhibitions and competitions at both a national and European level. The project created in the southeast area of Sicily dates back to the Eighties, a cultural centre of Visual Arts, where he has set up a professional situation of didactics and research, an existential desire that Carpenzano had cultivated even when there were many temptations and opportunities to
live as a photographer in Milan. The images – icon of the wedding day – of the exhibition “a special day” presented last March at the International Foundation of Photography in Orvieto, impress for the abstract and objective value of the wedding, photographs which are able to maintain autonomy of vision when extrapolated from the events of the day. Over time, his narrative and emotional style has gone further, maturing a photographic language made of abstraction and symbolism, which has evolved in parallel to the capacity for narrating a real day, elevating it into something else, something special. His ability to hide the silent presence of the photographer behind objects of daily use, the extraordinary sensitivity for finding inspiration in the multiple occasions that reality suggests links the research by Emanuele Carpenzano with the current trends of Wedding Photo journalism and the more experimental one of the Marriage intended as a creative photographic workshop.Read More

Photography is my life. At first, there was just an interest, but with time, it became my whole life. So I became a professional photographer...motions are the most important things in our life. Wedding, engagement, birth, all these moments that you want to keep in your memories forever, you’ll find on my pictures.
It took a while for me to master my skills and gain experience. First there were photography courses, then the European Academy of Photography. Very important for me was my probation in SNAP studio where I could learn from the best like Marek Straszewski, Marcin Tyszka, or Raphael Mazzucco.
But the most i have learned is from practice. At first I was taking pictures of my friends and little daughter, then I started to get jobs from others. For three years I lived in Italy where, because of the sun, beautiful landscapes and friendly attitude. Taking pictures there came easy.
I have lived in Poland for a few years now. I opened my own studio in Warsaw’s district of Praga. With every wedding I learn something new and develop my skills. Read More

Getting the opportunity to take creative pictures and to meet people from different cultures was what lured Kicki in to wedding photography...icki got her interest in photography when she was 15. Her first boyfriend had a SLR and dark room equipment. She got fascinated by watching the images appear on blank pieces of paper in the dark room and also learned the photographic techniques quickly.
Shortly after she picked up on photography she managed to get a job as a assistant at a photo studio in Stockholm. There she learnd about the basics of photography and at the age of 23, Kicki was head of the studio. The wish for a full time job, instead of freelancing, brought her to the department of forensic investigation (called KRIM or CSI in Sweden) where she worked for twelve years with highlighting and photographing evidence for the forensics. Through her job she got a scholarship to an education in Schweiz, where she studied lightning techniques.
The experiences she got from CSI taught her to give even the slightest details attention. The work of highlighting evidence with multiple light sources gave her a very good technical competence and she learned to analyze and read people, which helped her getting close to the people she photographed.
But the need for creative freedom and the opportunity to meet people in happy situations brought Kicki back to wedding photography.
She has been specializing in wedding photography for 20 years, and is fond of the documentary photography where nothing is directed and choreographed. Back in the 80's she moved her wedding photography out of the studio and the stiff images of that time.
Kicki works with top of the line equipment and is constantly evolving her skills, to reach even higher. Her latest work includes photographing the acclaimed NHL-player Mats "Sudden" Sundins wedding.Read More
Welcome, my name is Mario Travaini. I am an Italian photographer living in Denmark for the past 15 years. I studied philosophy and...t history in Venice and I was later trained as a photographer in Milan.
The war in the Balkans, slave children in Benin, love for sale in Rio, shanty towns in Manila and many other things I have photographed for various newspapers and photo agencies through the years, so I had not really imagined that one day I would be a wedding photographer. Yet the more I photograph weddings the more special they become. For me every wedding is unique and at the same time, every wedding is an extremely exciting challenge that I take very personally. My name as a photographer is at stake. Two people trust me on the most important day in their lives and I therefore feel obliged to “capture the spririt of the day” and translate the wedding’s poetry into pictures.
I work in reportage style, documenting unobtrusively the whole day. Not because I am a photoreporter myself, but mainly because I know the importance of telling a story in photos. Traditional formal wedding photos you will get tired of looking at in the long run, whereas the photos with all what happens before, during and after them, creates a timeless story that represent a memory which will live on.

If you choose one of our WPJA Italy wedding photojournalists as your wedding photographer, please let them know you found them through the Wedding
Photojournalist Association.
The WPJA at a glance: The Wedding Photojournalist Association puts the best Italy wedding photographers at your fingertips, by granting membership only to
the most talented professional wedding photographers in the world--photographers who focus solely on using their documentary photography skills to capture
the moments of your wedding day.
Some of the best Italy fine art wedding photographers are now just a click away through the Artistic Guild of the WPJA! The AG takes the world-renowned artistic approach of WPJA wedding photojournalists to yet another level through post-production processing (usually Photoshop).
