I studied Journalism with an emphasis in photojournalism at the University of Georgia’s renowned Grady College. After graduation I...rked for the Marietta Daily Journal and Atlanta Journal Constitution over a period of five years before accepting wedding, portrait, and editorial commissions full time.
The process of photography engrosses me from start to finish. I love the spark of recognition that ignites my soul and compels my finger to press the shutter. I am captivated by emotion -whether subtle or profound- vibrant color, light, and the many small nuisances of each environment and subject I encounter.
I have been shooting for the past 8 years but feel that I have been a photographer my entire life, trying always to isolate the particular beauty in a moment, place, gesture or relationship. It is with continual awe and respect for the opportunity to communicate visually that drives my photography forward.
I live in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta with my husband Joe and miniature Schnauzer Scout. If I am not out taking pictures, you might find me on a walk with Scout, planning my next adventure, day dreaming about fashion (via the latest Anthropologie catalog), blogging, sipping a cup of tea (it’s always tea time at my house), reading, cooking, listening to NPR, at the theatre drifting into the world of cinema, eying a luscious cupcake or other sweet, and generally just enjoying every ounce of life.Read More

Dan started his photography career at the age of eight, encouraged by his mother's instructions on the workings of the Kodak Brownie... camera. He spent the whole afternoon lying on the grass in the late California summer sun taking pictures of his GI Joe figurines in full battle regalia. Little did he know his love of GI Joe was to be replaced with a love of photography. His formative years are now more affectionately referred to as the rangefinder, Polaroid and Instamatic years. He majored in journalism in college, beginning his SLR years. He now has over 20 years experience in newspapers. He swore he would never shoot weddings but finally caved under the pressure of friends and has now shot more than 400 weddings in the past 12 years. He has won numerous local, national and international awards. While lying in the grass at a recent wedding capturing the life-changing event before his eyes, he reminisced about an earlier time when he naively discovered his own lifetime passion. Read More

The WPJA has been an enormous blessing and ultimately an integral element in the development of my photography business! Their vision for an association where
photojournalism is married (forgive the pun) to the realm of wedding photography is nothing short of inspiring and fully matches that of my own.
There is a better and purer way to convey the wedding story. The WPJA has found that way.
75% - 90% of my annual bookings are from this site. And of that percentage, my clients end up on the same page as far as wanting the specific style and ability that I can
provide. Because of the WPJA, both the client and photographer ends up happy.
The WPJA has rejuvinated and legitimized the wedding photography business in a whole new way. It has encouraged me to grow my business to a new level of art. My clients come predominately from the WPJA and are looking for that alternative perspective that will give them a commissioned piece of art that they can cherish for generations! Keep up the great work!
I went down to Florida this past weekend to shoot a wedding I booked over the phone within 24 hours of the bride contacting me. She had found me thru the WPJA and declaired "I knew I could have gone with someone less expensive locally, but I knew I wanted quality, so I looked on the WPJA." It turned out great - thank you again for this wonderful organization and even more so for the means to connect with such a wonderful and talented group of photographers !!
I just took a look at the Knot message board post and had to smile, since the post was started by one of our brides! She’s offered many great referrals for us, and I’m glad to see that she’s doing the same for WPJA.
It’s exciting to see all the growth and new things happening with WPJA. Thanks for all the hard work you’ve put into this!
