CONTEST CATEGORIES - WINTER 2004
Due to a growing demand and need for creative recognition within
the Association, the WPJA tried Five Enhanced Image Categories.
Unlike the 17 Standard Categories for this contest
that didn't allow any photo manipulation, enhanced image submissions
could utilize equipment-based techniques, digital capture effects,
photo development altering, toning, or computer software manipulation
including actions, plug-ins and filters.
DETAILS FOR THE FIVE ENHANCED IMAGE CATEGORIES
A specialized panel offering a diverse range of art, photojournalism
and photography backgrounds judged the ENHANCED IMAGE categories.
Cash awards and trophies were the same for both ENHANCED and STANDARD
competitions, with the following exceptions:
1. Due to its mid-year introduction, Enhanced Image Award
Recipients didn't accumulate contest points.
2. The WPJA allowed up to 20 entries per member in the five,
combined Enhanced Image Categories.
3. Each member is allowed 60 total entries in per year. But
as an added introductory bonus celebrating the new 2004 Enhanced
Image Categories, all members automatically received an additional
20 images for 2004 to participate in Enhanced Image Competitions.
4. 60 Standard Entries + 20 Enhanced Entries = 80 Total Entries
