Q2 '08 AWARDS, PRIZES & TROPHIES

The WPJA recognizes exceptional skill and ingenuity within the wedding photojournalism industry. The Wedding Photojournalist Association awards members for photography excellence through the simple release of the camera shutter.

For the Q2 contest, trophies will be awarded for those who place first through tenth in each of the ten categories for this contest:

05. Details (Found)
06. Emotion
07. Humor
08. Great Natural Light
09. Creative Portrait
10. Weather

In addition to contest points, each Top 10 photographer will receive one of our newly designed WPJA trophies (pictured left) as well as cash or contest credits.

These crystal clear, acrylic trophies measure 9 1/4" in height and have a nice weight to them.

WPJA PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR TITLE & TROPHY

The WPJA proudly recognizes the Photographer of the Year (POY), that member holding the most contest points at the end of each year. This recipient is recognized with a permanent engraving of his or her name on the perpetually Traveling Trophy. Each December, this trophy is returned to the WPJA and awarded to their successor the following February.

The WPJA PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR wins an additional $1,000.00 CASH (USD) GRAND PRIZE BONUS.

First runner up wins a $500.00 CASH (USD) AWARD.
Second runner up wins $250.00 CASH (USD) AWARD.

These additional CASH AWARD BONUSES are above all CASH winnings earned from each category.

AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE - GOLD / SILVER

WPJA Gold Members hold more than 100 contest-winning points. These members exhibit consistant craftsmanship, creativity and vision.

WPJA Silver Members hold more than 25 contest-winning points. These members exemplify excellence in the wedding photojournalism field.

PLATINUM AWARD OF EXCELLENCE $5,000.00 USD

Yet to be awarded, WPJA Platinum Members hold more than 250 contest-winning points. These members represent internationally superior photography talent. THE FIRST PHOTOGRAPHER TO REACH THIS RANK RECEIVES AN ADDITIONAL $5,000.00 (USD).
