Members are listed in a specific order on the WPJA site.

Q. HOW DO I GET TO THE TOP OF MY REGIONAL LISTING PAGE?

NOTE: The following was made effective on 8/31/05.

Member ranking on each page of the WPJA web site is based primarily on participation in WPJA contests. Members entering just their two free entries per contest will move up their regional listing pages even if they don't win. A Top 10 winning image could quite possibly place a member in the #1 spot on their page!

Generally, WPJA members are listed on the site regionally, according to their primary business location. Within these local pages, there is more ranking--the order goes as follows (top to bottom):

1. Photographers with the most points after each WPJA contest. This includes placement points (1st-10th place), as well as participation points. Each contest entry receives one participation point. An explanation of 'placement points' can be found in the 'General Contest Info.' section under 'Judging Procedures'.

2. Members not entering the contests (seniority listing).

3. Photographers from other areas that request extra state listings. Those with highest points will be featured at the highest levels available for out-of-state listings.

Award recipients rank higher on the WPJA listing pages, the top positions being reserved for the members with the most contest points (in their state/region) from the most recent contest.

RANKING ON THE DESTINATION WEDDING PAGES:

Member ranking on Destination Wedding pages is (once again) based primarily on participation in WPJA contests. The two free entries the WPJA offers members for each contest could potentially help them move up on Destination Wedding pages, even if they don't win. By virtue of just entering the contest, participation points are awarded, which positively affect ranking. A Top 10 winning image could quite possibly place a member in the #1 spot on their Destination Wedding page(s).

Generally, the order by which members are ranked on the Destination Wedding pages follows the guidelines listed below:

TO RECAP: Award recipients rank higher on the WPJA Destination Wedding listing pages; the higher positions being reserved for members with the most contest points from the most recent contest.

WPJA Trash The Dress Wedding Photo Competition

The WPJA is proud to launch the first annual Trash The Dress photography contest specifically designed to recognize the exceptional talent of our esteemed members.

Trash The Dress (TTD) competition entries are created after the ceremony with primary direction provided by the photographer. Entries are judged on creativity, technical proficiency, composition and lighting.

Gritty, romantic and uniquely sexy, TTD photo shoots challenge the photographer’s creativity, imagination and technical aptitude. Enjoyed by thousands of brides and couples worldwide, these on-location photo sessions commemorate the wedding and cherished gown within a glamorous, frivolous and often lively post-nuptial portfolio. TTD sessions meld formal wedding attire within unconventional settings. For example, sessions are frequently held on sandy beaches, amidst crashing ocean waves, at rustic farms, on playgrounds or in urban settings.

After the nuptials but before it’s boxed, the wedding gown is taken to a completely new level during a Trash The Dress session. We invite members to exhibit their creativity through our newest competition. Submit your entries by Friday, September 19th, 2008 in our exciting, first annual TTD competition!

BRIDES Magazine / WPJA Wedding Photo Competition

BRIDES MAGAZINE & the Wedding Photojournalist Association proudly present a Wedding Photojournalism Contest.

The WPJA/BRIDES Wedding Photojournalism Contest spotlights the finest images from the best wedding photojournalists on the pages of one of the most world-renowned wedding publications and the web sites of the WPJA and BRIDES.

For most brides and grooms, wedding photojournalism is no longer a trendy alternative to traditional wedding day photo-coverage; rather, it is mainstream wedding photography. The WPJA has been leading the way in promoting and rewarding photographers who excel in capturing the un-styled and un-scripted moments of the wedding day. More and more couples are seeking out the top wedding photojournalists in the world through the WPJA web site.

  D-65 DIGITAL WORKFLOW WORKSHOPS

The D-65 workshops teach bulletproof techniques to increase workflow productivity and save time. These workshops demonstrate ways to automate, search, archive, present and deliver the zillions of images todays photographers accumulate. Attendees will learn to create files perfect for reproduction; tagged, named, sized and sharpened correctly, along with attaching the appropriate metadata and keywords. You will learn the correct way to keep your images organized, and archived. The workshops are intensive, and focus on optimizing digital photography -- from input to output.
