CAROL GUZY is a three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer with The Washington Post. Guzy originally studied to be a nurse, but changed course after
taking a photojournalism class. She received her most recent Pulitzer in 2000 for photographs of Kosovo refugees, a second in 1995 for her portrayal of the U.S.
intervention in Haiti, and her first in 1986 awarding her work during a mudslide in Colombia for The Miami Herald. Guzy graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale
in 1980 and acquired her first job with the Miami Herald after a successful internship. She spent eight years at the Herald, then joined The Washington Post in 1988. In
1990, Guzy was the first woman to receive the Newspaper Photographer of the Year Award, presented by the National Press Photographers Association.
MARTHA RIAL has been a staff photographer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since 1994. She won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of Rwandan and
Burundian refugees in Tanzania. She is a past winner of the Scripps Howard Foundation Award for Photojournalism and has been named the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association
Foundation Photographer of the Year.
VINCENT LAFORET is a New York based commercial and editorial photographer who is regularly commissioned to work on a variety of fine art, advertising,
corporate and editorial projects. His approach to aerial photography has been singled out as one of the most unique and interpretive amongst photographers today.
At the age of 32, his work has been published in most major publications around the world and he has been sent on assignment by Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine,
National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek, and Life Magazine. In 2006, Laforet modified his staff position at The New York Times to become The Times' first
national contract photographer. His photographs have been exhibited at the International Center of Photography in New York City, and Visa Pour L'Image in Perpignan.
Vincent's was recognized as one of the "100 Most Influential People in Photography" by American Photo Magazine in 2005 and was named one of the "30 photographers to
watch under 30" by PDN in 2002. He and four other photographers were awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Feature Photography for their post-9/11 coverage overseas in 2002. His
work has been recognized in the Communication Arts Annual, PDN Annual, The World Press Photo Awards, The Pictures of the Year Competition, The Overseas Press Club, The
National Headliners Awards, The Pro-Football Hall of Fame. Vincent is a Canon Explorer of Light and Canon Printmaster and serves as consultant to companies such as Apple,
Bogen, Lexar, and X-Rite.
Vincent has been invited as a keynote speaker by a variety of organizations and universities from around the world. He serves as an adjunct professor at Columbia
University's Graduate School of Journalism. Vincent is represented by the Stockland Martel Agency. He resides in Manhattan with his wife, Amber, and son, Noah.
DAVID LEESON, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist, has been on staff at The Dallas Morning News since 1984. He has also worked for the Abilene
Reporter News and The Times-Picayune in New Orleans.
He has been a finalist for the Pulitzer three times prior to winning the award in 2004 along with colleague Cheryl Diaz Meyer for photographs made in March and April
2003 while on the front lines with the US Army 3rd Infantry Division during the invasion of Iraq. He has also won two Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards and numerous
regional, state and national awards.
In the fall of 2000, he began shooting video full-time for The Dallas Morning News becoming an industry leader in new media. In 2006, Leeson was named Innovator of the
Year in Photojournalism by American Photo magazine for his work using frame grabs for newspaper daily still assignments. The results of his efforts have culminated in a
growing trend by newspapers to use high definition video cameras for both video and stills (via frame grabs) from a single assignment.
He has also completed more than seven short documentary films and produced and edited "At War", a
feature length film about the war in Afghanistan. Awards for his work in video include a National Headliners award, a national Edward R. Murrow Award, two regional
Emmy Awards. Leeson is a graduate of Abilene Christian University, is married and has five children.
