My interest in photography started in college - I took my first photo course and I was hooked. I would spend hours and hours in the...rkroom and I would immerse myself in the art. After college, I continued photography as a hobby, and friends who were getting married asked me if I would take some extra photos at their wedding because they knew I was a hobbyist. These same friends started coming back to me and were happier with my photos than with their hired photographer. Eclectic Images was begun.
In addition to photography, I have a background in graphic design which I employ with my album and postcard designs. I have been shooting weddings for almost 9 years and I LOVE my job. I have been published nationally in The Knot Magazine, regionally for many years running in The Knot Real Weddings Texas, and I have been awarded editors choice for the Best of the Knot for two years running.

I have always loved photography but it was while working as a communications specialist at the United States Agency for International...velopment (USAID) that I realized the ability of photographs to quickly and powerfully tell a story or convey a message. I left my job at USAID to study at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts Boston University.
I have spent time working in Senegal, Turkey, and Kurdish Iraq photographing a range of subjects including emigration and religion in daily life. I strive to put my subjects at ease in my presence, creating engaging, intimate pictures that connect the viewer to the subject. I've always seen the world as though I were looking at it through a camera, focusing on details or color and shape in my mind, and...eezing moments that were special and dear to me. As a kid, the plastic viewfinder of my Kodak Instamatic seemed a natural way to frame my experiences and share them with others. Later, studying film and working in television revealed the power of using images to tell stories. And that's what I do today; tell stories of blossoming love, deep family connection, and momentous occasions though images framed in my minds eye.

Formal training at Bowdoin College and Brown University. Brian's development began while working with National Geographic photographer...len Rowell in western Tibet, Nepal and India. The techniques developed were simple: be consistently respectful, unobtrusive and friendly. Brian quietly charmed his way in and out of Chinese jails, through rioting civil servants in Kathmandu and was welcomed to photograph more prohibited elements of real daily life then most ever get access to. Brian learned there that a quick smile, a respectful nod and an unobtrusive approach can create incredible photographic opportunities.
Brian continued to take on various editorial assignments throughout Asia, Central America, Canada and The United States. He has covered everything from sea turtle rescue efforts in Costa Rica to documenting the impacts of logging in British Columbia. His work appears in a variety of publications including books by Random House, as well as regional and national magazines.
But how and why weddings? At Brian's own Hawaiian beachside wedding, he was amazed by how obtrusive his otherwise incredibly talented photographer was and thought that there had to be a better way. It's his incredible creativity, quick sense of quiet humor and commitment to capturing the real essence of a wedding that make his photographs unique and cherished. With studios in San Francisco and Maine, Brian teaches photography workshops throughout the United States and supports destination weddings worldwide.Read More

From my first wedding in 1991, to the present, I have looked for moments that take my breath away. My father sculpted my photojournalistic...yle from an early age and was one of my strongest influences. He left me my most treasured possessions, his cameras, his photography books and best of all, a love of photography. He taught me that time moves so fast and photography stops it. He started my hands on photography education and I continued it through high school and college. Being a firm believer in keeping my education current, I yearly take seminars and workshops.
I've won numerous awards locally and nationally. The number of weddings photographed is limited to less than 20 a year so that I can provide the best quality and only the finest service. I am married to the love of my life who supports me in so many ways and has even helped me build an indoor and outdoor studio. I am passing on my photography heritage to my daughter, Joriana, who I am proud to say is also an active member of WPJA. I love working with her, her unique photojournalistic perspective and that my father's artistic blood is still flowing through her veins!
