Everything started when I was an AFS exchange student in the US. My interest for getting to experience and learn with different cultures...s the beginning of a life as a photographer. John Nassari, PhD, is a professional photographer with nearly 20 years experience. He trained in advertising and editorial photography... 1989. In 1998, he began exhibiting his work as an artist, showing documentary and reportage work in social issues. Since then he has exhibited across the UK and internationally in Cyprus, Canada and Cairo. He was nominated for the National Portrait Prize in 2000 and 2006, where his work was shown at the National Portrait Gallery, London. He founded Indigo Images in 2007. Dennis is an international award-winning photographer based in Singapore. He specializes in weddings, the performing arts and family...rtraits.
It all started some three years ago. The church musicals that he was producing and performing in (Dennis plays the bass guitar and drums) didn’t have a photographer. He was forced to borrow a digital SLR to document the performance for the church bulletin. The dance segment was the most difficult to shoot because of the movements in dim light. Together with the elaborate costumes and props on stage, he found that capturing these images properly can make for a very artistic shot that also embodies the soul of the dance. This was the beginning of a hobby that led him to “volunteer” his services to several dance companies just so that he could gain the experience of shooting their performances.
Soon, the dancers were asking him to take their wedding shots as well. His background in the arts gave him an advantage in rendering an artistic viewpoint in wedding and portrait shots. The weddings were particularly special to him because of its place in creation where two flesh become one within God’s greater design for the man and woman He created. It gave Dennis an opportunity to tell a story using pictures of the love between man and wife, how they are differently made and yet so compatible with, and for each other. The wedding photos in his mind can be candid yet artistic. Dennis considers it a privilege to be given the opportunity to capture this on film.
