Wow. This was just a great detail – strong “seeing” by the photographer.
Nice graphics and a good example of a photographer who's looking for photos everywhere.
Throughout my career I tried all manner of juxtapositions of jet streams and airliners and never found that exact moment when it all came together perfectly in a clever composition. So I couldn’t resist a nod toward this image - the one that got away. Let’s hope the marriage soars as beautifully as this detail.
What kid hasn’t tried on Mom or Dad’s oversized shoes? It’s a guaranteed classic moment every time and the photographer had enough respect for the moment to not only recognize a classic but stand out of its way to let it unfurl.
Whoops. On sale at Nordstroms for only $129.90! Not a bad price to pay for the embarrassment of one small forgotten detail - which formed the perfect detail for a keenly observant photographer. Tux Rental: $149.99 Shoes: $129.90. A Good Photographer: Priceless.
What’s not to love about this beautiful image of a lost balloon, perhaps seeking solace in a prayer beneath the cross? More likely, it sought the sky but first a stop at the church. Sounds a little bit like the wedding day doesn’t it? Nonetheless, I’m not sure I would have seen this tiny detail. I’m glad this photographer did.
The casual feeling of this image creates a luxurious moment of grace apart from the hectic and oft-stressful wedding day. It’s all here, from hose to grill, in a laid-back and leisurely look at the backside of the lusciousness of the wedding.
The groom and groomsmen were hanging out outside towards the end of the wedding. It was a cold night, but the atmosphere was great, everyone joking around. I wanted to capture a candid photo of the groom, and I decided to frame him with his friend's cigar to bring in what was happening in the scene. The smoke in the air comes from both the cigars, and the guys' hot breath on that cold night.
I added a little pop of off camera flash to the left and back of the frame, providing a little rim light on both the groom in the background, and the cigar in the foreground. This helped make these elements stand out in the photo, as well as provide additional light.
