Contest Judges

JEANIE ADAMS-SMITH
Award winning photographer based in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she is an Associate Professor of Photojournalism at Western Kentucky University. She worked at the Chicago Tribune for 10 years as the national and foreign picture editor. She has lectured at the Southwestern Photojournalism Conference and chaired a national Women in Photojournalism conference, sponsored by the National Press Photographers Association. Read more

ANDREA BRUCE
Through documentary photography, Andrea Bruce brings attention to people living in the aftermath of war. Andrea is currently based in Afghanistan. For eight years she has chronicled the world's most troubled areas as a staff photographer for The Washington Post. She focused on Iraq from 2003 to the present, following the intricacies and obstacles of the conflict experienced by Iraqis and the US military. Read more

BILL FRAKES
Bill Frakes is a Sports Illustrated Staff Photographer based in Florida. He has worked in more than 100 countries for a wide variety of editorial and advertising clients. His advertising clients include Nike, Coca-Cola, Champion, Isleworth, Stryker, IBM, Nikon, Kodak, and Reebok. Editorially, his work has appeared in virtually every major general interest publication in the world. Bill won the coveted Newspaper Photographer of the Year award in the prestigious Pictures of the Year competition. Read more

YUNGHI KIM
Yunghi Kim is a photojournalist, born in Taegue, South Korea, but is a Korean-American who grew up in New York. She has covered some of the biggest global conflicts in the last 28 years that include; Somalia in 1992, the Rwandan Genocide 1994 and the resulting refugee crisis in 1996, South African elections of 1994, the fall of the indonesian dictator Suharto in 1998, the war in Kosovo in 1999, the Iraq War in 2003, Afghanistan 2001 and 2005, and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
