Contest Judges
MARTHA RIAL
Martha Rial has been a staff photographer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since 1994. She won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of Rwandan and Burundian refugees in Tanzania. She is a past winner of the Scripps Howard Foundation Award for Photojournalism and has been named the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association Foundation Photographer of the Year., Read more
AMANDA VOISARD
Amanda Voisard is a Washington, D.C. based multimedia journalist who specializes in social issue short-form documentaries. Her assignments have ranged from wading through chest deep waters in search of residents devastated by hurricane Sandy, documenting the struggle of the Havasupai during their fight to protect their homeland from uranium mining, to photographing in Tahrir Square during the 1st anniversary of the Egyptian revolution. MARK EDELSON
Mark Edelson is Presentation Editor at The Palm Beach Post, where he works with photographers, designers, reporters and editors on the packaging of stories throughout the paper.
He joined The Post as a picture editor in 1993, and since then has been named Newspaper Picture Editor of the Year eight times. He's also been the lead picture editor or designer for the Post team that has earned numerous awards at Best of Photojournalism, Pictures of the Year, Society for News Design and the Picture Editing Quarterly Clip Contest. MICHAEL AINSWORTH
Michael Ainsworth is a staff photographer at The Dallas Morning News. A graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington, with a degree in journalism, he has won awards for his coverage of spot news and sports. He was one of the staffers at the DMN who were honored to receive the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News for their coverage of Hurricane Katrina and it's aftermath., Read more
TOM REESE
Tom's work as a newspaper and magazine photojournalist has been nominated for Pulitzer Prizes in breaking news photography, feature photography and explanatory reporting. As a staff photographer at The Seattle Times, he was also recognized with multiple honors from World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year International, Best of Photojournalism, The Associated Press, Society of Newspaper Design, the United Nations Association, International Conservation Photography Awards and others.
