Well composed and the groom's expression of joy and satisfaction is both touching and contagious.,

This is an unexpected and strange image (what's with all those clocks?). The groom's smile and the couple's embrace provide a compelling contrast with the apparent disinterest of the woman and child in the background, as well as the folded arms of the seated woman. Not your predictable first dance ... ,

Love the joyous moment, the couple's embrace and the look on the young girl's face as the kids circle around the bride and groom, and how the children dancing is echoed by the cherubs on the wall. ,

Love how the embarrassment was captured. Love the expressions and the reaction by the bride. Not the usual first dance photo but it's quirky and fun! It stood out from the rest.,

They are making a connection, even in a crowd. Choice of vantage point worked out very well.,

The timing, lighting and emotion are all there for the conclusion of the first dance. The girls looking on in their colorful dresses only add to the beauty of the moment.,

Great emotion in this visual feast of a photo. There is just enough drama and tension all tied together by their grasp on the cloth.,

We want to know what they are communicating, but are happy that they clearly know themselves.,

Beautiful, ethereal, graceful moment (did they take lessons or are they simply accomplished dancers?) ,

Beautifully captures the joy and wonder of the moment as the couple stare into each other's eyes, photographed, applauded and studied by their guests. Nice touch how the bride's dress, as it swirls, echoes the curves of the draped ceiling.

Expression, light and composition all work together.,

15th Place: Marianne Earthy from London, EnglandJudges Comments
This graphic overhead photo of a first dance was better than a few others simply because of body position and the fact that the remnant of people watching gave them a sense of place.

A candid moment beautifully captured and framed by the out of focus groom in the foreground. ,

Photographer's Comment
I tend to circle the bride and groom as they enjoy their first dance; and, of course, I'm always seeking to nail my focus on them. In this case, as I walked around the dance area, I happened to see the bride's son in the background with his phone camera aimed at his mom and new stepdad. His eye was on the couple not on the image on his phone; I quickly shifted focus to him and snapped the shutter. From the time I took it, I thought it was a cool shot.
