A simple photo created by the framing by the photographer. "Love, Honor, Cherish" written on the background crates a nice palate for the silhouette.

Good job of utilizing color and tonality to create a graphically strong image, and capturing just the right moment before the make-up brush actually touches the woman's face adds a sense of anticipation to the moment. The symmetry of the image contributes to its strength, which makes me wonder if cropping from the right - to eliminate the break in the curtains so that the right side would better mirror the left - would have made the photo even better.,

Photographer's Comment
This image was taken in the middle of summer, with not a cloud in sky that day a few people made their way inside to escape the heat of the mid day sun. Whilst inside I had noticed the stream of light hitting the floor but with no subject I just kept it on mind and lingered nearby waiting for my subject. I got lucky when one of the bridesmaids strolled into the scene on her return from the bar. She had two drinks in her hands, it was a snap decision whether to inlcude the hands... I was pleased intuition took over. As one of the judges points out, it is the rustic floor, the harsh contrast of light wrapped around the soft pastel green of the bridesmaids dress that really makes the image stand out.

Excellent angle from which to photograph the situation, taking full advantage of the stark lighting. A nice touch is that the bride's arm nicely mirrors that of the man holding the veil.

Simple, graphically compelling and mysterious, the photo preserves a moment that raises questions rather than answers them, which contributes to its power. Why so serious? Whatever the reason, the image surely adds a contrasting mood to the day's overall coverage. Cropping from the right to eliminate the light line - can't tell what it is - might have simplified and strengthened the picture.,
