In many relationships it’s the woman who concentrates on the details of making things run smoothly while the man is easily distracted. When, exactly, the groom is going to realize that the wedding cake next to him is toppling over is a large part of this photograph’s appeal. Fortunately for him, however, his wife seems to have the situation well in hand. Funny.

Highly effective approach to an already visual situation, by including the bride, illuminated by only ambient light. Flames, red aura combine to creatively convey the receptions special setting.

This photograph has the feel of a professional ad. It makes its point simply and eloquently: two people drinking wine at a wedding reception (held in a winery?). The focus is on the wine glasses. But there is a more than a hint of sensuality in the unseen faces, the mostly dark figure of the woman, the way the man’s hand is tilting the wine glass toward the woman (the bride?) and the way the light is shining on the woman’s low cut dress. It makes me thirsty.

One never knows for certain what’s going to happen when one pops the question or the cork. But there is usually a bubbly feeling of anticipation and mild panic. This photograph captures that feeling.

It’s really simple, but so symbolic. I don’t think I’ve seen this picture very often, or ever, which makes it all the better. You can look at this and it tells a story. Wonder if they will keep the cake for a year? The simplicity of the photo really adds to the story, anything, or anyone would have distracted you of this moment.
