Natural light defines the moment in this photograph. The photographer stepped back and framed it nicely creating several levels to the scene and making an image that is appreciated even if you aren’t a friend or member of this family.
This was the most unique image in the contest. It truly defines photojournalism. The composition was executed perfectly with the groom in the center framed by the patient bride and Jesus statue on the floor. Also great use of available light.
No offense here, but this image looks like a still from a David Lynch movie. The Jesus figure on the floor, the ruminating bride and the groom making it all official create a wonderfully enigmatic image of a dark and happy day.
I'm a sucker for intimate moments that reveal human behavior. This is both intimate and revealing. I love the comforting hand, and the nature of the man's facial feature at center. It's also shot in a way that gives the impression of peering into their lives, completely unaware of the photographer's presence. Solid.
An impressionistic beauty of the service. This is such a quiet, beautiful, almost haunting image. The viewer wonders what has happened. Has the groom fainted, is he just happy to be there, is he overcome with joy? The lighting and the perfect expression on the groom add to the mystique.
I love this moment. It's unusual and has great emotion in it. If there's a weakness, it's in the composition. I don't like the heavy tilt. But nevertheless, it's a nice moment that has good impact and it rises because of this.
Nice peak emotion in this photograph. I’m not a fan of the tilted horizon but in this case I think it really works to create some tension in this photograph.
This is a humorous moment with a dramatic angle used to accentuate the situation.
Great classic moment, confetti spilling down, the flash of the camera, and solid composition at the peak moment of the kiss. It all comes together. If there's a weakness, it's that it's expected, which is why I don't rank it higher, but still, good execution of the moment. I'm sure the client would love to have this image.
I love all the layers to this photograph, from the bride and groom to the little boy at right to the crowd beyond and the flash in the background. The photographer captures nice emotion throughout.
The joy of the bride is so evident in her smile, and her body language lifts the emotional impact of this photograph to the top for me. I love the woman's facial reaction in the center. If there is a weakness it's in the man's reaction at right, but that being said, it's a small weakness that's overridden, in my opinion, by the emotional impact at left. Great work!
Nice moment composed with leading lines and good light. The couple is a touch soft however.
All you can say with this one is AAAAH. The photographer obviously has gained the trust of his/her subject to be able to get this candid image on the way out of the church. Very intimate, very touching.
This image is very unusual and made me pause when viewing through the collection, and in a good way. I like seeing images I haven't seen before, executed in a strong manner, and this fills that spot. It's odd and makes you smile. Good seeing and smart to back up and get the entire moment in a frame.
Funny moment of the wedding party in the rain taken from a good perspective giving the viewer a nice feel for the location and mood of the outdoor wedding.
