I love her reaction, and it makes me smile. It seems like a real moment that was surprising, and I loved to see images that surprise me. Very nice work in capturing this. I love the little girl's body language.

This image is simple and clean, and these are some of the reasons I like it as much as I do. I like the light and the quiet moment of the image. I love the texture of whatever the kid is wrapped up in and it's something I think not only would the client like, but stands on it's own as an image.

Sometimes there is nothing like the pure love a child has for his or her sibling. This beautiful moment captures all the tenderness that a little girl has for her brother. The angle and composition give the picture a real sense of intimacy.

8th Place: Jessie Li from British Columbia, CanadaJudges Comments
This photo demonstrated a more photojournalistic approach. The photographer had to wait for the right moment and expression, which made this image work.

9th Place: Caroline Ghetes from Illinois, United StatesJudges Comments
This image stood out for its composition and attention to detail. I love the light on the boy and the beer bottle to the left is priceless. Nice photo.

This image is a surprise to me, and I think images that surprise you, and show you something you don't normally see, rise above the rest. I love the body language of the girl and the referring element to the right of what she is reacting to. Great job in getting this as it was a quick moment I'm sure.

Very funny juxtaposition captured on the dance floor of these children where you can only see one eye of the little boy.

I think most photographers would have run outside to get the image of the bridesmaids staring out the door. This photographer chose to stay back and capture a photograph of the contrast between the excitement of the grownups and the sometimes blind insouciance of a child.

This quiet moment was nicely captured between the bride and ring bearer. Good use of natural light.

Hate to say it, but “awfully cute” image of three girls straining over a rooftop to get a glimpse. All three with the same color dress, which accentuates the symmetry of their “pose” on the roof.

Kid photography can sometimes be hard to do well honestly, without it just being a "cute kid" picture. I like this because it's an image driven by design and pattern, and it's a little surprising in nature. I wasn't expecting this picture which was nice. It's also clean and well composed, and I like how the photographer was on the level of the subject.

I saw this coming as the baby got more and more enthralled with her little sister's hair. I laid on the ground and waited for this moment to happen.
