Silhouettes and Shadows

Judges Comments
This image wins despite poor toning (there is no black!). A great over-the-shoulder type moment. The bride is perfectly placed in the background behind the silhouette of the groom and a child.

The shadows and lighting make this picture come alive. The high angle and strobe or spotlight work perfectly.

This image really is all about the compositional lines created by the shadows, a simple slice of life where everyone in the scene seems to be interconnected by those shadows.

Although this would have worked better as a vertical, it still is well done and gives a good overview of the church as well as good placement of the bride and her father (assumed). A beautiful setting and nice moment with the bride silhouetted in the door. This image would have faired better with slightly more rim light exposure to help carry and define the gathering.

I like the body language of the bride in silhouette and the reaction from the flower girl in the background.

The chiaroscuro effect of the silhouettes and the division of the parties, each interacting in their own time and space, create a lovely composition.

Another good shot from behind with one subject silhouetted in the foreground against the bride who is only semi-silhouetted.
