1st Place: Lori Barbely from Florida, United StatesJudges Comments
PHOTO CAPTION BY BRIDES MAGAZINE: All eyes are on the bride, except for those of the ring bearer, who gazes at the groom, his dad. In her beautifully framed shot, Barbely conveys the emotional intensity of the moment by focusing on the boy's expression amid the stark white jackets and rigid stances of the men in the wedding party.

COMMENTS: The repetition of curls makes this picture surreal and funny.

This moment of a father (assumed) giving the bride away is all too familiar. The juxtaposition of the happy couple and father (assumed) full of tears makes great framing.

This little boy looks like a little man. His curiosity is so adorable and makes you feel the same way. Classic detail - nice geometry and moment.
Photographer's Comment
Kids are very easy to photograph and I always keep an eye out for their antics. It can be overdone in the sense that you could easily spend a day photographing a few energetic children. But if you wait for them when they are calm (not as common as you may guess) they make for wonderful moments. This was photographed with a long lens somewhere around 200mm. ,

The angle of the photographer helps you see the bride's nervous expression. Her face is priceless.

The bride and groom are in their own little world of joy and happiness together. You can really see the unity between the two.

We liked that the emotion of someone other than the bride was shown.

The color is so vibrant and there is this youthful energy about it. The white outfits help draw the focus to the bride and groom. Great moment. Well shot in terms of composition, color and exposure. Close to perfect

The textures of the subjects' faces create a striking juxtaposition. Both the man and the child look genuinely happy. Beautiful moment, very intense. Great use of shallow depth of field. Great to "get in there" and capture this moment.
