Bridal Party

PHOTO CAPTION BY BRIDES MAGAZINE: Remarkable for its graphic composition that contrasts light and dark, circular and vertical forms, Dampney's artful image recalls a traditional Japanese scroll. The bridal procession appears orderly, ceremonious, and silent against the lush tropical forest. Gorgeous, classic, black and white image with strong geometrical elements. Nice moment, too. One of the strongest of the group.

The blur and angle of this picture add to its sense of fun and excitement. It makes you want to be part of the party. This image just has a great energy about it. It makes me feel like it was a very fun affair where people really got along. Capturing the "feeling or mood" of a wedding is any photographer's goal and it was done very well here.

I liked the energy of this particular bridal party in Newport RI, and in between formals I took this off-kilter shot which I think captures the joy of the moment.,

Connectivity between all of the people is comforting and the sweetness of the young girl adds to the calming atmosphere. The bouquets add that pop of color as a graphic element.

He's really man's best friend and just one of the guys. All are groomed for the occasion.

It's always nice to see people physically close while having their own private exchanges with each other. It is unexpected to see the bride comfort the bridesmaid. Pretty perfect image in terms of timing all four characters. Composition is great and light is handled very well. Classic.

This is quite funny and unusual. It makes you want to know what they are rating.

The juxtaposition of the adult males and young boys is very sweet and gives the image a vintage feel. This just feels like a classic 1920-1940 PJ image. There's a very nice arch with the four in the foreground and the little boy peering over the top solidifies the image perfectly.

The groom, from Ireland, stopped for a few (okay several) pints before the ceremony - I tagged along to make some great images as he spent time with his brothers and nephews. They sat close to the window and I took advantage of the diffused natural light.

The photographer's angle allows you to see the repetition of arms, glasses and pearls. It has a sense of motion so your eyes keep moving around the image.
