This photographer used a “Hail Mary†to keep his reflection out of the mirror and got a whole lot for quick reflexes and choice of perspective. We look right into the face of the groom, who is wonderfully framed by the surrounding action. All those hands in the back and from the sides tell us so much about the rhythm on the dance floor.

Great angle that really accentuates the movement. I love the white polka dots that play off of the white circular hula hoop. I also love that the photographer shows the audience, especially the man on the left that is working his imaginary hula hoop. Looks like an image from the 50's. Love the grainy black and white. One of those photographs every wedding album needs. She may be giving it all she's got to keep that hula hoop swirling, but even shot from the back, she's managed to maintain a sense of decorum in the process.

Sweet, gentle moment that evokes an intimacy between the couple which transcends the crowded dance floor to a unique space only they share. A tender, private moment in the middle of the hoopla. A private moment, perfectly framed. After all of the stress of planning the wedding, this photographer captured the moment of quiet happiness between the couple, whose expression reads, "we did it."

This image says a lot about the relationship of our bride and groom. It's all the more meaningful because it happened spontaneously on the dance floor, sort of a private moment of connection in a public space. For me, this holds more communicative power than any posed alternative.

This is a pretty simple image that works so greatly on several levels: the energy between the dancers is sensual and personal, the cropping is perfect, and the background provides information on what this event was. Sexy, stylish, graphic. Very glam.

Beautiful, private moment that is, in my opinion, head and shoulders above the rest of the images in this category. The hand, the tentative touch, the repetition of the single light with the single flower in the bride's hair, the starkness of the setting contrasted with the tenderness of the subjects in the photo make this a powerful moment that says it all about the faith we put in each other when we say “I Do.†This is a quiet moment that the photographer has captured. The couple look as if they are the only people in the room because of the bare walls and how focused they are on one another. So many lines and textures makes this simple image so pleasing.

Great energy and spirited expression. Every face is ablaze with emotion. A lively reflection of the events on the dance floor. The energy of this photo is intense. Everyone has such an emotive expression. You can really feel the excitement as the central figure tries to hold the others back. Great angle and symmetry in the shot - very fun. You just know this is "their" song - very fun and totally a real moment.

The crop and of course the tiny hands makes this image interesting. Very sweet moment. The little boy's tight grip on his dance partner is so charming.

A great interaction between these two people. This is the perfect moment as the guy (the dad?) is at the peak of wiping away a tear, and the bride is reacting to his emotions. He's so happy/sad - and she seems surprised - maybe never saw that before.

Getting great photos of people dancing can be more challenging than it seems. Moments flash before us in such a blur that isolating the perfect one is almost a miracle. What seems like “shooting fish in a barrel†is actually one of the most difficult aspects of great wedding photography. Yet photographers manage to pull it off every day around the world. This moment rose above the rest for me – a poignant and silent moment that yells like a champion of the good fight for great images
