Details are often shot kind of superficially by photographers and it was nice seeing some images that relied on style, humor and even moments with details. This picture offered up two of those three elements. The clasped fingers around the grooms neck are plainly and simply nice seeing. The composition and even the minimal use of color made this a top picture. I liked what this picture implied and that made it a powerful storytelling detail. Nice way to cover the bride and groom's dance.

Sign pictures are one of those things I try not to award, but sometimes you've just gotta do it. Actually this picture has a sign, but it's not really the main part of the image. The people in the background getting ready offer another dimension to the picture. This picture also is composed very well. It's really a complicated image, but it's shot so well it doesn't feel that way.

The bare feet, the slight sense of movement and the contast between the cool and warm light help this image have a free or carefree feeling that is fresh, different and very appealing. There was nothing else like it in the category – nice to see a photographer thinking differently.

Really nice composition. This is a groom that has support by his party. Beautiful use of light. Nice moment and composition on the hands on the shoulder of the groom shot. They are perfectly positioned as was the photographer to compose it this way – wish the grooms head had a bit more detail at the top or separated a bit better from the background.

Cool detail brings technology into the process. Very today. Excellent way to use a detail in advancing the story line.

Great eye by the photographer. Cropping tighter allowed us to go right for the terrific body language by the groom.

Just a great tender telling detail. Really tells the story. Stands out for it's clean technical approach.

Simple subject for sure, but the shadows offer a bit of complexity to the photograph. The red also adds uniformity to the two subjects.

Nice poignant detail of the flower girls security snuggle bunny – color helps it really pop out. Wonder if it might have been even more interesting shot from a slightly lower angle, like it that the photographer saw and captured it though.

I like the quirkiness of this photo with the focus on the toy and the bride blurred in the background. The light and composition are good.

This is a wonderful photo of a woman applying lipstick. I like the unusual subject, the bold colors, and the composition.

There was some serious drinking going on at this reception and the photograph attests to that. Not only is it a storyteller in that sense, but it also has some nice shapes and composition to go along with it. It is almost a black-and-white image, but the semi-full glasses, centerpiece and bronze chair backs offer some nice spot color

Captivating and unexpected fabric detail tells the story of delicate finery. Different and well done. There were several images of the back of the bridal gown, but this was shot as an abstract design. The light is beautiful- a great way to add a dress detail to the bride's photo collection. Very creative.

Just a humorous shot, made more powerful by the crop. Nice way to show a little of the bride's personality.

Frame within a frame is a real nice touch for this detail. It's readable and well done. Good seeing on the part of the photographer.

This picture has some nice lines to it as well as texture. The penmanship is also interesting as is the way the wedding party decided to have their guests find their seats. The soft clouds on the pastel blue sky offer a nice clean background

I really appreciated what the photographer was trying to do - put the detail in the context of the western location and the character of the people in the wedding - the hats and sitting on the tailgate of the truck. But perhaps it tries to do too much - the distortion on the leg is a bit troubling as is the crop on the shoe. But...at least it is different, not cliché and says something about the individuality of this wedding.

This is a lovely photo of wedding flowers. The light on the flowers and the book is beautiful. I like the stacks of books in the background that hints at the setting.

This is a beautiful photograph of the wedding cake. I like the way it's been photographed with a shallow depth of field and from above which seems to exaggerate the height of the cake. The colors are strong and striking.
