The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

2015 Q2 Photography Contest Judges

Judges

  • Well-organized and lit very well.
  • As their family and friends create a backdrop of sparklers, framing the wedding couple with a romantic arch of fire and light, they gaze downward at the ceremonial cake, seemingly oblivious to the beautiful scene that has unfurled in a dazzling banner of light in agreement and support of their new union. The photographer has used light so well in this photo that even an astute viewer would be challenged to name its source. I may be wrong, but my experience with sparklers would place the source in those lofted sticks of shimmering, sparkling white.
